Please keep Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in your thoughts. Just before the pandemic, Therese had the chance to stroll the now-embattled streets of Kyiv prior to spending several days photographing Chernobyl (currently occupied by invading Russian soldiers). We are horrified by the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine and the daily crimes against humanity being committed by Russia on a sovereign nation so proud of its independence. We stand with Ukraine and pray that soon we will be able to travel there again and meet up with the friends Therese made.

To see what Chernobyl looks like today, I visited the Chernobyl disaster zone in early 2020, nearly 34 years after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the Ukraine exploded. The disaster forced tens of thousands to leave their homes, many more to perish from radiation exposure, and countless others to suffer from disease.
